about

Obachan is the latest release from prog acoustic trio The Council. The title is the Japanese word for grandmother. It explores the mythology of "ubasute", the legend of son carrying his grandmother into the wilderness to die. All the while, she is breaking and leaving branches for her son to find his way home. Upbeat and ethereal, The Council once again pushes the boundary of what can be done with their unique acoustic instrumentation.
